Hard to find, ceramic, Walter Lantz cartoon characters - Splinter and Knothead salt and pepper set.
Produced in Japan in 1958. Splinter & Knothead are Woody's niece & nephew, they were part of the popular Woody Woodpecker cartoon series. In 1958 Walter Lantz created the Woody Woodpecker & His Friends series of salt & pepper sets.
Set is beautifully made, with vibrant colors.
They measure 4" tall, very good quality, both have their rubber stoppers.
Bottom is stamped 1C3635, foil sticker - Napco Originals Japan.
Very nice condition for their age. Some natural grazing on salt and pepper shakers, no cracks. Very minor chip on Splinters arm, and a couple tiny on Knothead, see pics.
Definitely need a good washing!
